Self-Employment Assistance (formerly NEIS) has assisted a large cross-section of the community, from young people, long-term unemployed, to those with varied educational experience and people from non-English speaking backgrounds.
Self-Employment Assistance commenced in 1985/86 and since then has assisted more than 28,000 businesses into being. Self-Employment Assistance is the government’s most successful labour market program with an average 84% of participants that commence the program still being in business 15 months after the commencement of their business.
