Alan started Bargain Bathrooms with the help of Self-Employment Assistance (formally NEIS) when he struggled to find employment because of his age. Bargain Bathroom’s aim is to provide the best quality bathroom products at the absolute best price in Perth. They have everything to get a renovation started from sinks and toilets to baths and taps.
Alan had over 15 years of experience in his industry but had never run his own business before, so he was naturally apprehensive about taking the step into operating his own business. The structured training and 12 months of coaching were crucial to achieving success in his start-up phase.
Alan found the small business training to be very beneficial “I learnt the procedures for opening up a business, ABN and GST registration. I followed these steps and now run my own business. ABS made it easy to understand what was necessary to get started” he said. Alan has gone from strength to strength and after 18 months of operation has turned over $500,000. “I would just like to thank ABS for the program. I learned so much about business but most importantly for giving me the skills and confidence to go it alone”.
He is also looking at branching out into new innovative products for the kitchen and laundry so is never one to be complacent and always keeping up with industry trends and looking to the future.
