Her motives for considering self-employment were to gain an income to support herself by utilising her planning, organisational and marketing skills. This was also driven by the need for flexible working hours due to ongoing health issues.
“The NEIS program enabled me take an idea and turn it into a successful business. Having so much expert help and advice in one building was wonderful, everyone was easy to talk to and made the whole experience exciting.” she said
Sue found the mentoring to be a crucial part of the program. “It provided constructive advice and support which helped to keep me on track throughout. Having someone to bounce my ideas and thoughts off was extremely helpful and gave me the boost of knowing I was making good progress. The NEIS training helped fill in the gaps in my knowledge of what I needed to know, so it was really good to be able to spend extra time talking to the trainers.” She said
When asked what she would say to those who are considering starting a NEIS business she said “I do not know of any other place where you have everything you need at your fingertips to start a business. The ABS NEIS people are fabulous and just want you to succeed. I can’t recommend this program high enough. I will always be extremely grateful to them.”
